Data policy

Your data,plainly

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We’ve kept this as short and simple as the law allows, and explained the legal words where we had to use them.

The short version#

  • We never sell your dataAnd we don’t use it to show you ads, here or anywhere else.
  • No trackers, no cookiesNo analytics, ad pixels or tracking scripts run on this website.
  • Your stuff stays with youYour portfolio, cart and settings are saved in your own browser, not on our servers.
  • Only what we needEnough to answer you, ship your orders and grade your Beyblades. Nothing more.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you, fix, download or delete the information we have about you. It’s free, and it only takes an email.

The rest of this page is the detail: what we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and the extra rights the law gives you in some parts of the world.

Who we are#

In short

Beycentral is a United States business. We decide how your information is used, so we’re responsible for it.

Beycentral (“we”, “us”) is run by [Legal business name], [mailing address], United States. Under European and UK law we’re the controller of your personal information, which simply means we decide why and how it’s used.

This policy covers this website, our shop, our grading service, and any time you email or message us. It doesn’t cover other websites we link to, like Instagram or Discord. They have their own policies.

Our representatives

For people in the European Economic Area: [EU representative name and address, if appointed]. For people in the United Kingdom: [UK representative name and address, if appointed]. You can contact them instead of us about anything in this policy.

What we collect#

In short

Mostly what you choose to give us, plus the basic technical details every website receives when you visit.

WhatFor exampleWhen we get it
Contact detailsYour email address, and your name or phone number if you give themWhen you email us, use the contact form, order, or send something in for grading
MessagesThe topic and message you write to us, and any photos you attachWhen you contact us, or ask to sell us a Beyblade
OrdersYour name, shipping and billing address, what you bought, and your order historyWhen you buy from our shop or pay for grading
PaymentsYour card is handled by our payment provider. We only see the card type, the last four digits and whether the payment went throughWe never see or store your full card number. At checkout
Grading recordsDetails of the Beyblade you send in: photos, condition, weight, grade and its serial numberWhen we grade an item for you
Account detailsYour name, email address and password (stored scrambled, so even we can’t read it)When you create an account, once accounts open
Technical detailsYour IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, and the date and timeEvery visit. Our web server records these automatically

We don’t ask for sensitive information, like details about your health, religion or beliefs. Please don’t send it to us.

If you don’t give us the details we need to fill an order (like a shipping address), we won’t be able to complete it. Everything else is up to you.

How we use it#

In short

To run Beycentral: answering you, filling orders, grading Beyblades and keeping the website working and safe.

Some laws, like Europe’s GDPR, require a legal reason for each use of your information. Here’s each use, with its reason:

What we doWhy we’re allowed to
Answer youYou asked us something, and replying is part of running our business (legitimate interests), or it’s a step before an order you want (contract)
Fill ordersTaking payment, shipping, returns and refunds are what you’re buying from us (contract)
Grade BeybladesInspecting, grading and publishing your report is the service you paid for (contract)
Show your reportsListing your graded Beyblades when you sign in is part of that service (contract)
Keep things safePreventing fraud and abuse, and fixing problems with the website (legitimate interests)
Keep recordsTax, accounting and other laws require us to keep some records (legal obligation)
Send newsOnly if you sign up. You can unsubscribe at any time (consent)

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve checked that our reason doesn’t outweigh your rights, and you can object. Where we rely on consent, you can take it back at any time.

We don’t make decisions about you by computer alone that have legal or similarly serious effects. Every grade is given by a person.

Saved on your device#

In short

Some features save things in your own browser so they’re there next time. It stays on your device. We can’t see it.

FeatureWhat’s savedHow long
Light / dark modeWhich one you pickedUntil you clear it
PortfolioThe Beyblades you add, how many, their condition and what you paidUntil you remove them or clear it
Shopping cartThe items in your cartUntil you check out or clear it
Grading previewWhether you’re previewing the sample accountUntil you close the tab

To remove all of it, clear this website’s data in your browser settings. Private or incognito windows clear it for you when you close them.

One thing to know: because your portfolio lives only on your device, clearing your browser data deletes it for good. We don’t have a copy to restore.

Grading reports#

In short

Anyone with a report’s serial number can view that report, like a certificate. Reports never show who you are.

Every graded Beyblade gets a report with its photos, grade, part condition, weight, comments and inspection dates. The report can be opened by anyone who has its serial number, its link or the QR code on its card. That’s what lets a buyer check a graded Beyblade is genuine.

  • Reports never include your name, address, email or anything else that identifies you.
  • We keep a private record of who sent each item in, so we can show your reports in your account and help if there’s ever a question about one.
  • Reports stay online after you sell the Beyblade, so the next owner can check it too.

If you’d like a report taken offline, ask us. We may keep a private copy to prevent fraud, for example someone reusing a serial number on a different Beyblade.

Who we share it with#

In short

We never sell your information or share it for advertising. We only pass on what’s needed to the companies that help us run Beycentral.

WhoWhat they get, and why
Payment providersYour payment details, to take payment securely. They follow strict card-security rules and have their own privacy policies
Shipping carriersYour name, address and phone number to deliver your order. For international orders, customs officials also need the contents and value of the package
Hosting and emailThe companies that host our website and handle our email store information on our behalf
Professional advisersLawyers and accountants, when they need it to advise us
AuthoritiesOnly when the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety or prevent fraud
A new ownerIf Beycentral is ever sold or merged, your information would pass to the new owner, who must keep the promises in this policy

The companies that work for us may only use your information to do that work, not for their own purposes.

In legal terms: we have not sold personal information, or shared it for cross-context behavioural advertising, in the last 12 months, and we don’t do either. That includes information about anyone under 16.

Cookies & tracking#

In short

We don’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, so there’s no cookie banner to click through.

This website doesn’t set cookies, and it doesn’t load analytics, advertising pixels, social media buttons or any other tracking from other companies. Links to Instagram, Discord and the app stores are plain links: those sites only learn about you if you click through.

The features in Saved on your device use your browser’s own storage. That’s only for things you’ve asked for, like remembering your cart.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or similar opt-out signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information. Since we don’t do either, there’s nothing further to switch off. If we ever add cookies or analytics, we’ll update this policy first and ask for your permission where the law requires it.

Where it’s stored#

In short

We’re in the United States, so the information you send us is stored there, wherever you are.

Privacy laws in the United States may differ from those where you live. When we move personal information out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we use safeguards those places approve. These include the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK’s addendum) and service providers certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Some of the companies that help us may handle information in other countries too. The same protections apply. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards we use.

How long we keep it#

In short

Only as long as we need it, or as long as the law says we must. Then we delete it.

InformationHow long
MessagesUp to 2 years after our last conversation
Orders & payments7 years, because tax and accounting laws require it
Grading reportsFor as long as Beycentral runs, so any future owner can check them (see Grading reports)
Your accountWhile it’s open. Deleted within 30 days of closing it, apart from records we must keep
Server recordsUp to 90 days, unless we need them to look into a security problem

Keeping it safe#

In short

We protect your information with sensible security, and we’ll tell you if something goes wrong.

  • Information sent between your browser and our website is encrypted.
  • Only the people who need your information to do their job can get to it.
  • Card details go straight to our payment provider and never touch our servers.
  • We choose service providers that take security seriously.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your information at risk, we’ll let you and the authorities know, as the law requires.

Your rights#

In short

Wherever you live, you can ask us to do any of these. It’s free, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.

  • See itGet a copy of the information we have about you, and learn how we use it.
  • Fix itCorrect anything that’s wrong or out of date.
  • Delete itAsk us to erase your information.
  • Take itGet your information in a format you can move to another service.
  • Object or limitAsk us to stop, or limit, using your information for a particular purpose.
  • Change your mindTake back any permission you gave us, like for our emails.

How to ask

  1. Email thebeycentral@gmail.com with “Privacy request” in the subject, and tell us what you’d like.
  2. We’ll check it’s really you, usually by replying to the email address we already have for you. Someone else can ask for you if you give them written permission.
  3. We’ll reply within 30 days. If a request is complicated we may need longer, as the law allows, and we’ll tell you why.

Sometimes we can’t do everything you ask, for example deleting order records that tax law says we must keep. If so, we’ll explain why.

If you disagree with our answer

Reply to our answer with “Appeal” in the subject and we’ll look at it again. You’ll hear back in writing within 45 days. You can also complain to the privacy authority where you live (see Where you live).

You have all the rights in Your rights. In legal terms, those are the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent. You can complain to your local data protection authority. In the EU, find yours through the European Data Protection Board. In the UK, it’s the Information Commissioner’s Office. In Switzerland, it’s the FDPIC. We’d appreciate the chance to sort things out with you first.

You have the right to know what we collect and how we use and disclose it, to delete and correct it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to limit the use of sensitive information. You also have the right not to be treated differently for using these rights.

In the last 12 months we collected these categories, as listed in What we collect: identifiers (like your name, email and IP address), customer records (like your address), commercial information (like your orders) and internet activity (like the pages you asked for). We got them from you and your device, and used them for the business purposes in How we use it. We disclosed them only to the service providers in Who we share it with.

We don’t sell or share personal information, and we don’t use sensitive personal information beyond what’s needed to provide our services. We don’t share personal information with others for their own direct marketing.

Beyblades are for all ages, but our shop and services are for adults. Kids should ask a parent or guardian to contact us or order for them.

We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the age where you live at which a parent’s permission is needed (16 in some countries). If you’re younger than that, please don’t send us your details. Ask a parent or guardian to get in touch instead.

If you’re a parent or guardian and think your child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
